The Alison Cardigan, has been hand knitted from our hand dyed Harvest Wool on 6mm needles making the texture so soft and comfy. We have used our new season Winter 2018 natural colours Deep Purple, Rainforest, Lagoon, Camomile, Gum Leaf, Marigold and little Mist. This original design in pure merino has taken hours of work, truly is slow fashion. From the farmers raising and shearing the sheep, sale of fleeces on the world market, transportation of fleeces to the spinning mill in India , growing and collecting of plant matter for dye pots, the winding of skeins, the hand dyeing of spun wool, hours of knitting, ball winding, stitching together and tidying up ends, and finally selecting and sewing on the vintage buttons!
Knitted in stocking stitch with free hand colour work in simple stripes and spots, the hem and cuffs are in 2 x 2 rib and the neckline and front edge have been finished in crochet and a collection of mismatching vintage buttons.
This cardigan is vintage inspired and sits just below the waist on the top of the hips, nothing like pure merino wool to keep you warm.
Please treat gently, hand wash in cool water with gentle soap.
How do I Care for My Garment?
Please treat your hand made garment gently.
Please note that initially there may be some plant and colour residue form our naturally dyed wool.
Your first wash will probably leach some colour and plant residue, after the first one or two washes residue should have washed out.
If this bothers you please wash before wearing, or take care just to wear darker clothing underneath your handmade garment until it has been washed out.
Please gently hand wash in cool water with wool wash, after hand washing and rinsing you may spin your wooden garment in the machine on a GENTLE SPIN.
Dry inside out in the shade.
Thank you for treading lightly and supporting slow hand made, natural fashion.
